    ## Advisor Style & Mentorship
Working with Dr. Hussain was an incredibly frustrating and demoralizing experience. He extremely micromanages regular life while providing little to no actual guidance in research. Meetings are frequent but never start on time—he reschedules at the last minute, sometimes delaying by hours, leaving students in limbo. He forgets what was discussed in previous meetings and then blames students for “not following instructions.” Instead of constructive feedback, he often resorts to criticism that feels more like personal attacks than academic mentorship. His approach creates an atmosphere where you’re constantly second-guessing yourself and losing confidence in your own abilities.

    ## Expectations for PhD Students
Expectations are vague and often contradictory. There is no structured roadmap for research, and students are left to figure things out on their own, only to be criticized for not following unclear directions. He demands rapid paper publications without providing meaningful support. Instead of fostering independent thought, he discourages initiative by abruptly shifting research topics. He frequently weaponizes funding and threatens to discontinue support, adding to a stressful work environment.

    ## Funding & Support
Dr. Hussain does not honor financial commitments. He initially promised a higher funding level but later downgraded it without warning, just before starting the first semester. He frequently uses funding as a way to exert control, bringing it up in almost every meeting as a way to pressure students. Rather than supporting students, he makes them feel disposable.

    ## Research
There is no clear research direction from him. Students are assigned projects with no training or mentorship to bridge the knowledge gap. If problems arise, instead of providing guidance, he blames the student for not figuring things out on their own. He frequently shifts expectations with no warning, making it impossible to feel motivated to the work.

    ## Lab Culture
The lab culture under Dr. Hussain is exhausting, isolating, and toxic. Meetings are scheduled late in the evening or even on weekends, with no regard for students’ personal lives. He creates a work environment where students are afraid to take breaks, even for meals, out of fear of being seen as “not working.” He shows no concern for students’ health. Instead of building a supportive research group, he fosters a culture of fear, manipulation, and mental distress.
